Cat-Attack? Here's how you can prevent a heart attack, stroke, and more health issues!

I was recently reading Inside Your Cat's Mind when I came across an article concerning major heart events in humans. I was surprised to read that in 2009, there was a study in the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Neurology, that indicated cats can prevent heart attacks, stroke, and other heart-related issues. The study showed that there was a decreased risk of death in those who owned cats. This was especially true with women over the age of 50 who owned cats.
I always knew that cats can be calming and create peace. Or at least that's what my cats have done for me over the years. I guess I just never really thought about major health complications and how we cats can come into play. It is true that petting a cat creates a sense of calm for the human and also the cat. Then add the sound of a low, soft purring motor and sleep starts calling your name!
I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a house full of cats than a heart attack! So, go and hug your cuddly, purring, cardiovascular savior before it's too late!
